EASY SEA MOSS GEL RECIPE

Sea Moss gel can be added to soups, teas, smoothies, jams, desserts, and even more. You can add sea moss to almost anything, that is because of the lack of flavor that sea moss has. This is one of the main reasons why I enjoy sea moss - you're being healthy and you don't have to be reminded by it.

SEA MOSS SEEMS SCARY

Sea moss to some can be a scary endeavor. "Will it be potent enough", "Will I mess it up". I'm here to tell you that you won't. Sea moss does look scary, I won't lie. It looks alien and has these endless stems that look to be prickly if you've never touched them before. When you open the pouch, you're hit with a sudden smell of the sea, perhaps you start to think about the last time that you were on a beach. When you look closer you start to notice that there looks to be a lot of sand.

Now you start to panic and wonder if you made the right choice and whether you should have just bought it from your local shop. And that maybe you should have done more research.

I'm here to tell you that you can absolutely do this! I've included a video for your reference as well.

WHERE CAN I BUY SEA MOSS?

Sea moss can easily be found online. My husband purchased the sea moss that we're using from Amazon.

Locally, you might be able to find sea moss at a health food store. If you live in Caribbean dense neighborhoods like Gun Hill, in the Bronx, or Flatbush, in Brooklyn, you can even find them in grocery stores.

I've purchased sea moss from Vegan Delight in The Bronx in the past.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS?

I'm here to let you know that you did! Sea Moss boasts so many positive properties for your body. Sea moss contains 92 minerals of the 102 minerals in the human body, 13 essential vitamins, and is rich in fatty acids. A tablespoon or two a day can help reduce hunger, support your immune system, regulate your metabolism, and more. I like to add it to tea - some people like to add it to a smoothie or any drink that they're enjoying.

The iodine in sea moss also supports a healthy thyroid gland. Sea moss is also rich in selenium which also supports thyriod health.

I personally do not suffer from a vitamin deficiency or weakened thyroid glands, and I am not a doctor, however, the scientific studies are out there. I suggest that you do your own research and talk to your doctor before starting to take sea moss.

Dr. Sebi was a major advocate of sea moss - he even claimed to drop to his knees every morning to test his joints. An 80+-year-old man falling to his knees to prove a point is scary enough!

HOW DO I MAKE SEA MOSS GEL?

The bulk of the work of making sea moss is the removal of dirt and debris. The sea moss is dehydrated, which then causes a lot of debris to stick to the moss. You can soak the sea moss for about 30 minutes minimum, you can also soak the sea moss overnight.

I like you to use hot water to silken the moss so that I can rub my fingers along each stem to feel for and remove the dirt.

CONSISTENCY

The consistency of sea moss gel can be very liquidly, or super dense and truly like gel. If you'd like it liquid like - then add more water. Do the opposite for thicker gel.

PERSEVATION

To preserve your sea moss gel, you can put it in your fridge for up to 3 weeks. You can also freeze it if you'd like it to last longer.

Remove your Sea moss from packaging

Remove large debris/ shells

Rinse thoroughly

Massage the sea moss to loosen debris, let sit for 30 mins

Rinse, massage lemon or lime juice into sea moss

Pour hot water over sea moss - rinse again after 5 mins
